Poems Written For Me By........

Philip Bell

I had the pleasure of meeting a lovely and talented man in PCLA called Philip Bell in Oct. 2000. We had a very special rapport between us and we made each other laugh. Philip ran the children's part of the Literary Angels Poetry Club where we could post and read poetry for children. We quite often wrote back and forwards to each other to give the other a giggle or two.

The first one was written by Philip's character called Aeolius, Lord King of All Elves.

(Philip explained that the flu made Aeolius write his words all higeldy pigeldy)

Then I wrote back.........

elloh Aeolius

Spinny the elf I am  and love play tricks nda laugh slot
come see ustm soon

 ovel Spinny

Aeolius answered with.........

So HA HA Spinny Elf lost down under other SELF
Purple Head and Purple Toe
Spinny Elf is this just So?

Or be it thus a Fairy Sprite
Mischievous Imp of Northern Night
Pretend thee be of Elfin stock
When Night is Day and Under Lock

No self respecting Elf of Yore
Would not respect the King Before
Be true, just once to what you are
Strine Imp from far Australia

Aeolius
Lord King of All Elves
Decreed thrice as the Mystery Told

The following poem was written by myself and Philip, so it is an exception to the page heading. We  wrote it through e-mail in Apr 2004, Philip one verse, then myself, then Philip etc. Sadly we never officially finished it so I add it here for prosperity's sake. (this poem is typical of the funny nonsense poems we wrote together.)

Gadzuks said the zimmer
Looking much slimmer
I do believe I have been framed.
But I give my support
To those too old for sport
And yet didn't want to be named.

It's already known around
That when zimmers sit down
They leave bits of their pieces behind.
So if they aren't seen
And don't know where they've been
You can bet that his bitsy's you'll find.

But zimmers on castors
Known as go fasters
Are currently all of the rage!
With go faster stripes
And wide exhaust pipes
They're the pride of the senior age!

They zip here and there
With nary a care
And the cars just better watch out!
If they don't jump aside
Or duck down and hide
Zippy zimmers'll twirl them about!

"I say!" said the zimmer
"Let's all become swimmers"
And they all got dressed in their trunks
They jumped in deep water
Quicker'n you can say daughter
And they all immediately sunk!

A Down Under Tribute!

In the little town of Wonga in the Outback
There's a Sheila who I guess that we all know
She's a poet and a songster and we love her
So give a cheer for J9 make it show!

'course I changed the name of Wonga in the Outback
Wouldn't do to let the weirdo's know her home
But the little town of Wonga is real pukka
And where you'll often see the kanga's roam

So wave a leg for all me mate's down under
And a great big roar for J9 she's the best
And I'll drink a few more Fosters in the Dunny
Remembering just who was it won the Test
