I've wanted to show you my Holographic art for a long time but there is a few problems involved when scanning them. The first problem is the pictures (approx. 65cms X 45 cms) are too big to fit on my scanner tray. The Holograph paper is impossible to scan or photograph to see it the way it's intended to look. Another is caused when the picture is scanned. The finished picture is a mere shadow of the original. The originals are beautiful pictures.

These problems still exist and it wasn't from lack of trying on my part to solve them. I have to hope that you know what holograph paper really looks like. We can buy it over here in a roll and it's sold as gift wrapping paper. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about I'll try and explain it to you and you might recognize what it is. It might be called something else where you live....... here goes........ Holograph paper is the type that if you're not looking at it on the right angle it just looks silver in color (usually anyway). When you have a good light and look at it on the right angle suddenly you can see colors and patterns that shine out like a neon light was just turned on. It looks like fireworks going off when you move it. Can you picture this?

While trying to solve this problem of how to show them to you I discovered an odd but interesting thing. The camera or scanner "eye" interprets the holograph paper as a solid thing and it appears as a colored pattern which is absolutely nothing what-so-ever like the real thing in shape , color or effect. On the other hand, when I photograph them look what happens to the holograph
paper. The two examples below are closer to the real effect but still not
right.

I scanned the big pictures on my scanner in sections then put them into an art program to piece them back together again. This was no easy task..... getting them to all line up perfectly. Where ever it was possible I've left the graphics big enough for you to see the detail as well as showing you close ups of the sections. Another thing was that I had to leave the illustrated borders off all these pictures to be able to scan them. Here's an example of three sections pieced together.........
"You can clearly see the three sections in this one." Click HERE to see more detail of "The Wizard" picture above. A solution of sorts........
