I dare not go out tonight ......

I've been sitting here cowering by the fire 
and I must admit I'm scared out of my wits! 
All night I've been hearing screeches and howls 
and other unearthly sounds, 
Oh God help me ...... I pray ....... 
Please ........... don't let them take me 
Down the devil's pathway! 

I know what happens to the poor folk, 
Dragged from their houses pleading ....... 
While the animals in the barn are neighing ........ 
terrified ........ screaming, 
They never come back ....... Never! 
But the horror of it is they don't go away either, 
Oh no, not completely ,
I hear their voices sometimes ......... 
Sobbing, begging, beseeching ........... 
Imploring me ........ don't walk the devil's pathway! 

I must be strong! 
I know not where my beloved is, oh no, he's gone .....

On All Hallows Eve they dragged him away, 
There was nothing I could do 
that nightmarish night except hide, 
Yes I am ashamed, 
I hid until light from the witches and monsters that came ........ 
I feel so ashamed ............. 
Now I sit here alone cowering in the dark,
Too frightened to walk down the devil's pathway.
