October Nights

While my Northern friends are facing
The coming of their cold Winter
Down here in the Land Down-under
We're looking forward to Summer

Our October nights are warming up
No more need for that electric blanket
Now I can once more venture out
To enjoy the balmy nights of Spring

I sit here under a tall Gum tree
Gazing at the bright stars above
I wonder when the Koalas will return
After their migration in Winter

October nights are soothing
With a welcome hint of warmth
I can smell the scent of a night flower
Which went to sleep in Autumn

The only thing that's missing
Is you my darling friend
If I had you sitting here by my side
Then my happiness would be complete
